Kroos Return Ahead Of Real Madrid-Chelsea Tie

Spread the love

Toni Kroos trained with his Real Madrid teammates on Sunday, signalling that he could be fit to face Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The German has missed the last three matches as a precaution, spending the past week working in the gym to prevent an injury.

As he showed in the Champions League quarter-finals against Liverpool, Kroos remains a key player for Zinedine Zidane and the coach will want the midfielder to feature heavily against Chelsea.

Assuming there is no setback between now and Tuesday, Kroos should be able to play.

No Mendy

Zidane, though, was without Ferland Mendy for Sunday’s session. It looks almost impossible that the left-back will return from his calf injury in time for the first leg with Chelsea.

Nacho, then, is expected to continue deputising at left-back, where he started the goalless draw against Betis on Saturday.

Sunday’s training session saw Saturday’s starters work away from the main group to recover from their efforts the day before.
