Leicester have moved up to second in the Premier League table after a 2-0 win over Southampton at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers’ side took the lead when James Maddison beat Alex McCarthy at his near post in the minutes approaching half time.

The closest Southampton came to finding an equaliser was through Stuart Armstrong, who pinged a shot off the crossbar from the edge of the area in the second half.

The Foxes also created chances in the second period, with Harvey Barnes sealing the points with a well taken finish in stoppage time.

The win takes Leicester to within one point of Premier League leaders Manchester United, while Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints stay eighth.
