ex-NNPC GMD, Baru Is Dead
Immediate past Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, is no more.
News of his death was broken this morning of Saturday, May 30, 2020 by his successor, Mele Kyari, via a tweet on his Twitter handle @MKKyari.
The tweet reads: “My brother, my friend and my mentor, Dr Maikanti Kachalla Baru, immediate past GMD of NNPC died late last night.
He was of exemplary character and disposition. May Allah forgive him and have mercy upon him.”

The circumstances surrounding the death of Baru are yet unclear.
