There remains an element of mystery surrounding Christian Eriksen’s career following his cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener, yet the midfielder has returned to Milan to continue his recovery.

Eriksen was greeted by the medical team of Inter where he underwent tests, although the results were very positive according to the club.

“Eriksen is in optimal psychological and physical condition,” a statement read.

“Eriksen will follow a recovery program set out by Danish doctors in Copenhagen, who will coordinate the clinical course and keep Inter’s medical team up to date.”

There is, however, an issue regarding the fact Eriksen had a pacemaker fitted in the immediate aftermath of his cardiac arrest, with Italian Football Federation rules prohibiting players with such a device installed from playing in Serie A.

Inter have already signed Hakan Calhanoglu on a free transfer to replace the loss of creativity with Eriksen, and it remains to be seen just what will happen with the former Tottenham Hotspur player’s career.
