The United States’ Soccer Federation’s national council have voted to repeal a policy that obliged its players to stand during the national anthem.

Policy 604-1 has been removed officially on Saturday, following the decision to repeal the policy being made in June.

The policy had been in place since 2016, when Megan Rapinoe opted to take a knee in a show of support to Colin Kaepernick’s protest against police brutality and systemic racism in the United States.
