Just In! Barcelona Attack Suspect Younes Abouyaaqoub Is Shot By Police

The Mossos d’Esquadra, Catalonia’s police force, have shot dead Younes Abouyaaqoub, the man believed to have driven the van that killed 13 people in Barcelona last Thursday and which injured many others.

The incident took place in Subirats, a town in the region, at around 16:15 CET on Monday.

According to police sources, he was wearing a vest believed to contain explosives and shouted “Allahu Akbar” – meaning “Allah is the greatest”.

Abouyaaqoub had been on the run since last week’s attack and had been the police’s most-wanted target.
