A right activist, Comrade Omolola Olukayode, has cautioned the Federal Government and the Cable Network (CNN), against confrontation over the alleged shooting and killing of the #EndSARS protesters by the military at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos on Tuesday, October 20, this year.

Olukayode, who is the Convener of Nigeria Peace Advocacy Group (NPAG), made the call in a media chat in Lagos Monday, where he made it clear that confrontational attitude and hardliner posture in resolving the imbroglio would rather be counter-productive than yielding positive result!

The youthful activist believes that, the viable option for the resolution of the issue lies in the application of tact and high degree of diplomacy by the two sides, admonishing that, since a panel of enquiry has been set up and already listening and collecting memoranda, anybody with anything to say about the matter should make themselves to the panel.

Turning the issue to a media battle, according to Olukayode, would stir more controversies that would be time-wasting and diversionary, asserting that, what is needed most now is full concentration and uninterrupted focus for the sake of quick resolution of the unfortunate incident.

The right crusader advised the CNN to be cautious in its approach to the matter because of the fallibility of any outfit run by human beings, including the CNN, reminding that, the global respected media organization cannot be error-proof because of the natural imperfection of man.

He also called on the government to tread with caution to avoid being tagged as a party that wanted to be a judge in a case that involved it, admitting that, every party has the right to present its case following standard decorum.

Doing this, Olukayode believed, would forestall a situation whereby unnecessary tension would be created in addition to the one on ground, adding that, this is the time for all hands to be on deck to create an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity required for the resolution of the vexatious matter.

While expressing the delight that members of the panel are people of integrity capable of handling the issue if given the required cooperation, assistance and support, the youth leader said, this period is not for escalation of tension, acrimony and confrontation, but a period for taking positive steps towards rebuilding the nation and moving the economy forward to an enviable standard expected of a nation reputed for being the giant of Africa.
