The Premier League have been forced to postpone Everton’s match against Manchester City due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the City camp.

This is the second match this season that will have been postponed due to an outbreak, following Aston Villa vs Newcastle United earlier in December.

News that Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker had tested positive for COVID-19 filtered out on Christmas Day, as well as two members of Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff, and presumably other players have now tested positive.

“With the security of the bubble compromised, there posed a risk that the virus could spread further amongst the squad, the staff and potentially beyond,” City’s statement read.

“Based on strong medical advice the Premier League, in consultation with both clubs, have decided to postpone the fixture.”

No date has been announced for when this match will take place.
