Phil Foden’s late strike gave Manchester City a 2-1 lead to take to Germany in their Champions League quarter final with Borussia Dortmund.

The hosts struck first at the Etihad Stadium, with Kevin de Bruyne firing the ball past Marwin Hitz in the 19th minute of the first half.

Dortmund thought they’d found an equaliser ten minutes from the break when Jude Bellingham robbed Ederson and rolled the ball into an empty net, but referee Ovidiu Hategan whistled for a foul on the goalkeeper.

Marco Reus did eventually hit an away goal six minutes from time, only for Foden to sweep the ball into the bottom corner in the 90th minute.

Pep Guardiola, who is looking to progress to the last four for the first time with City, will take his team to Dortmund for the second leg next Wednesday.
