Edo Assembly Speaker Disowns Facebook Account

The Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amb Marcus Onobun , has disassociated himself from a Facebook account used by impostors to defraud members of the public.

In a statement by the Media Assistant to the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Amb. Ayemere Michael, warned members of the public to be wary of the parody Facebook account.

He said that the attention of the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun has been drawn to a purported Facebook account belonging to him and set up by fraudsters to trick members of the public.

He added that “The Speaker disassociates himself from the Facebook account set up by fraudsters who thrive in mischief. The account in question has nothing to do with Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun privately or officially. Those that are behind it are fraudsters who thrive in mischief.”

According to him, “The Speaker Official Facebook account name is *Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun. ”

Ayemere expressed further that the fake account has been reported to law enforcement agencies for detailed investigation to unmask and prosecute the masterminds behind the criminal act.

Meanwhile, the aide to the speaker cautioned members of the public to be on alert against schemes of fraudsters on the cyberspace.
