Inzaghi Warns Real Madrid: Inter Will Play With A Knife Between Our Teeth

Inter Milan will host Real Madrid in their Champions League group-stage opener at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday night, and ahead of the match Simone Inzaghi has stressed that the Nerazzurri will do whatever it takes to bring joy to their fans.

The Inter boss also indicated that his team are aware of Real Madrid’s strengths and warned his opponents that grabbing all three points will not be an easy task.

“We know that the final minutes [of games] are always important and against Real Madrid we will have to be vigilant,” Inzaghi said during Tuesday’s pre-match press conference.

“They have great dribblers and we must know how to handle them for as long as possible. We will play with a knife between our teeth and we hope to have one of our best nights in front of our fans.

“We have recovered from the [Sampdoria] game and we are thinking about preparing as best as we can for a difficult game [against Real Madrid].”

An in-form Vinicius Junior has scored four goals in four LaLiga Santander games so far this season, but Inzaghi stressed that Inter cannot just focus on one of Real Madrid’s forwards.

“Vinicius is in great form, but if we only look at him, we will forget about [Karim] Benzema, [Eden] Hazard or Rodrygo Goes,” added Inzaghi.

“But without a doubt we will be especially careful with Vinicius.”

Inzaghi went on to hail Ancelotti’s coaching qualities and singled out organisational skills as his compatriot’s main skill.

“I am concerned about the organisation that Real Madrid have,” noted Inzaghi.

“We also saw a great team with [Zinedine] Zidane, who won [trophies] in Spain and Europe. Carlo always offers a good attacking game to his team and at the same time provides them with a lot of organisation.

“Ancelotti is one of the most successful coaches in the history of football. He is a great coach and it is a pleasure to talk about football with him.”
