A goal and an assist from Kylian Mbappe guided Paris Saint-Germain to the Coupe de France trophy on Wednesday against his former side Monaco.

PSG started on the front foot, with Mauricio Pochettino’s trademark high-pressing game in full force from the off, causing Monaco to gift them the opener.

On 18 minutes, a defensive mix up let in Mbappe, who then unselfishly set up Mauro Icardi for 1-0, leaving Niko Kovac’s men with a mountain to climb.

PSG dominated the first half, although they didn’t create as many chances as they would have liked.

In the second period, Monaco went out for the equaliser but were punished on the break.

Mbappe’s pace was always going to cause trouble and, in the end, the former Monaco man punished his former employers with a cute dink on 81 minutes to seal the Coupe de France for PSG.
