Former Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has died at the age of 82, the Premier League club has announced.

Mr Hill-Wood joined the north London side’s board in 1962 and served as chairman from 1982 to 2013, presiding over title-winning eras under manager George Graham and later Arsene Wenger.

He was also instrumental in the formation of the Premier League and oversaw Arsenal’s move from its historic Highbury ground to the Emirates stadium in 2006.

Mr Hill-Wood’s involvement in the club continues a long family tradition with both his grandfather Sir Samuel Hill-Wood and father Denis Hill-Wood having previously served as chairman.
