Ramos Scores His 100th Real Madrid Goal

With his header against Inter on Tuesday night, Sergio Ramos reached the tally of 100 goals with Real Madrid across all competitions. He joins an exclusive club of 19 players who have done so with the Real Madrid colours. Of the 19 to reach a century of Real Madrid goals, 15 are forwards, two are midfielders and then there’s Fernando Hierro and Ramos. However, Hierro played a lot of his Real Madrid career in midfield and that partly explains his tally.

Ramos is the first out-and-out defender to reach this tally, doing so 15 years after arriving at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. His first goal came on December 6, 2005, against Olympiacos when he headed in a Raul Bravo freekick on a Champions League night. At the time, he was trying to live up to and justify his price tag of 30 million euros, but now that looks like a bargain.

He has scored in every single season of his Real Madrid career. His 13 from last season, when he started taking penalties with regularity, was his highest tally of his time in the Spanish capital. In 2020/21, he is already on to three goals. With Ramos scoring so frequently, it remains to be seen just how many goals he can score before his time with Los Blancos comes to an end.
