Atletico Madrid Force Barcelona To Wait With Late Win Against Valencia

Atletico Madrid managed to delay Barcelona‘s LaLiga Santander title celebrations as they earned a heroic 3-2 win over Valencia on Wednesday.

Diego Simeone‘s side went into the game knowing that a defeat against Los Chewould hand the title to the Catalan outfit and their never-say-die attitude showed they were determined not to let that happen.

It looked like it would be a comfortable evening for the hosts as Alvaro Morata scored the opener after just eight minutes.

However, former Atletico man Kevin Gameiro levelled the scoring on 35 minutes to increase the nerves inside the Wanda Metropolitano.

Thomas Lemar set up fellow Frenchman Antoine Griezmann five minutes into the second half to put Atletico ahead but the visitors again found an answer.

Dani Parejo calmly converted from the penalty spot with 13 minutes remaining, though he would not have the final say in an enthralling encounter.

Angel Correa popped up at the perfect time for Atletico, firing past Neto in the Valencia goal to lift the roof off the Wanda Metropolitano and keep Los Colchoneros in the title race, albeit until the next round of matches on the weekend.
