Arsenal sent Slavia Prague packing from the Europa League with a 4-0 thumping in the Czech Republic on Thursday.

Having drawn 1-1 in London, Mikel Arteta’s side knew that they needed to take the game to their opponents, and did just that, taking a 3-0 lead inside 25 minutes before sealing the win in the second half.

Nicolas Pepe got the Gunners firing. Emile Smith Rowe did well on the edge of the hosts’ area and, unable to find space for a shot, he teed up Pepe to go through and finish coolly.

That lead was doubled just four minutes later, this time from the penalty spot. Alexandre Lacazette had made headlines for staring down the Slavia Prague team as Arsenal took a knee before kick off, while the hosts stayed stood, and he kept his cool from 12 yards to slot home.

Another three minutes passed and Arsenal went three goals up. Bukayo Saka charged through on the right before cutting in and driving a low shot into the bottom corner.

The only surprise from there was that it took almost an hour of play for the visitors’ next goal. A swift counterattack saw Pepe square to Lacazette in the box and he easily finished.
