A pro-Democratic group, Godwin Obaseki Must Rule Again (GOMRA) has commended the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adam Oshiomole, for his displayed of courage and statesmanship in swapping his preferred candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu for the incumbent Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki.
The group described the APC National Chairman move as commendable. “The tension and apprehension across Edo State may soon be over by the action of the National Chairman in rebounding the peace and unity of the state.

The group in a statement by its Coordinator Mr Benjamin Atu said “the challenge before the National Chairman currently is how to dismantle all the hurdles erected by the bankrupt political elite in our state for a hitch-free coronation of the incumbent Governor with an automatic return ticket.

“A king chooses his own coronation and that’s why the Governor has chosen the way and manner the APC primary should be conducted as a day of his coronation for a second term in office.”

The fact has emerged that Oshiomole is under pressure to swap his preferred candidate for the popular choice of the masses. Several reasons abound for the sudden change and swap.
The candidates swapping according to Edo People’s Movement (EPM) leadership is designed to salvage an otherwise pathetic political situation. Members of the APC who spoke applauded the swapping as this is predicated on the sound legal framework as stated in the APC Constitution.
Nobody can claim ignorance of this remarkable strides of the National Chairman decongesting the becloud the Edo APC that would’ve been characterised with litigation which he perceived as unhealthy for the polity.
According to the statement, the date Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu joined the APC is known by all Nigerians and nothing is hiding from the truth that he has not to spend the expected years he ought to spend in the party to qualify for the exalted position he is currently clamouring for as an aspirant based on the party constitution.
The one chance aspirant of the factional group misled the public in his recent AIT interview about the party election guidelines for the nomination of a candidate. The one chance APC aspirant is highly deformed about the constitution of the party he is seeking to defend.

Section 3, Paragraph “L” requires that aspirants must have been financial members for at least one year before eligibility to contest election under the APC platform.

The National Executive Council, NEC, with the powers to determined waiver has refused to yield themselves into the mucking waters of Edo Politics and that has naturally disqualified the factional APC aspirant from even picking the APC nomination form.
Atu who is from same Etsako with the National Chairman, thanked the National leaders of the party for raising the alarm of the illegality, appealing to them to join forces in ensuring that Godwin Obaseki retains his seat as the Governor of the State for a second term.
