Chinese and Russian spies are listening to President Trump’s casual phone conversations as he chats with friends and close advisers on an unsecured iPhone, it was revealed on Wednesday.
US intelligence agencies have warned Trump that Chinese spies have been eavesdropping on his calls — and exploiting the information as they negotiate an ongoing trade dispute, according to The New York Times.
The calls are intercepted by foreign government through cell towers and cables that are part of cellphone networks.
The president has two official iPhones, which have been partially secured by the National Security Agency. A third, personal, iPhone is completely unsecure and vulnerable to hackers, according to the Times.
Trump continues to use the phones despite repeated warnings from aides that the practice is unsafe, the paper said.
