A human right crusader, Comrade Adebayo Oyenekan, has said that, the pass mark awarded the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), by an organization, Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), was never a surprise, saying, he has never deviated from the conducts that had been earning him the award over the years.

Oyenekan, who is the leader of the Congress of Progressive Youth (CPY), told newsmen in Lagos that, the gangling Minister has not wavered from all the attributes that stand him should higher in the public, from his time as the Chief of Staff to the former Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to his time as two term Lagos Governor up till now as a minister.

Against this backdrop, Oyenekan therefore urged the Minister to keep on keeping his eyes on the ball always reminding that, what works for him has been his dedication to duty, commitment to the welfare of the people through infrastructure development and his general humility and gentle mien towards the people.

While reminding Fashola that, “with this Integrity Test Award, you are being told that you and others are perpetually under the people’s scrutiny without being informed,” admonishing that, “whenever you lay your hands on the plough, do not look back as people watching you would appreciate your hard work at the fullness of time.”

The group leader was of the belief that, Fashola’s steps might eventually lead to the Seat of Power in the Aso Villa in 2023, adding quickly however that, “though, the amiable Minister has not signified any intention to contest 2023 presidential election, it would not be out of place for people of goodwill to draft him into the race considering his performance in the various offices he has occupied.”

Oyenekan was full of praises for the CDG for its efforts at bringing to the fore, outstanding performances of notable public office holder, saying, such efforts would help the public to make informed choices when the needs arose for selection of round poles for round holes.
