11-Time French Open Champion Rafael Nadal (2) advanced to his 12th semi-final at Roland-Garros with an emphatic 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Kei Nishikori.
The Spaniard will play his arch-rival Roger Federer next in the semi-final. With that victory, he has now won 91 of the 93 games he has played in the Paris grandslam. Nadal has also never lost a semi-final here.
Federer overcame compatriot Stan Wawrinka in a hard-fought match that he won 7-6 6-4 7-6 6-4. He lost his first set of the tournament today.
It was redemption of sorts for the Swiss maestro as he was defeated by Wawrinka in the quarters in 2015, the last time he played at Roland Garros.
