Toll Rises To 373 As Nigeria Confirms Another 11 COVID-19 Cases

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has on Tuesday confirmed 11 cases of coronavirus in Nigeria.

The commission stated that all of the 11 new cases were recorded in Lagos.

As at 11:00 pm 14th April there are 373 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria,” NCDC said.

“99 have been discharged with 11 deaths,” it added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chikwe Ihekweazu, NCDC director-general, had at the media briefing of the presidential task force on COVID-19, said efforts were ongoing to take advantage of the lockdown extension declared by President Muhammadu Buhari in Lagos, Ogun and the federal capital territory, to expand more on testing capacity, as well as contact tracing.

Also addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state, announced efforts by the state to do more on testing, especially with the door-to-door contact tracing in areas identified as hotspots.

Lagos alone has recorded more than half of the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases across the country, with 214 cases. Of that number, as of April 14, 2020, the state had discharged 69 patients.
