Lagos Assembly Reads Riot Act To Contractors, Seeks Government Funding Support

… Demands fruition of activities inside time period

 

 

 

The Lagos State House of Assembly Education Committee led by its Chairman, Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi read riot act to contractors over slow pace of work at different sites.

 

 

Ogunyemi who led other members of the committee and Projects Unit Department of the Lagos State Ministry of Education said they won’t endure any type of nonchalant attitude of the contractors.

 

 

At the Awori College Ojo site, Ogunyemi faulted Eldorado Nig Ltd contractor company on slow pace of the work in spite of 40% installment “we are not satisfied with what we found there and we will like to appeal to the contractor who is handling Awori College Ojo have gotten 40% installment to go back to site”.

 

 

Reacting on Angus Memorial and Lagos City Model Colleges, Ogunyemi said they are fulfilled with what they have seen so far “we are satisfied with what we found at Angus Memorial College and Lagos City Model College.

 

 

He added “this project is ambitious and also it’s a giant stride to the Akinwunmi Ambode’s Administration. In each project there are suppose to be 36 classrooms in each site and world class facilities that will be befitting what you can say of Model College class.

 

 

Briefing newsmen after the oversight work, the lawmaker said the main essence of the visit is to merge the projects vis a vis to the fund that has been released to the contractors.

 

 

Ogunyemi then urge the governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode to empower the contractors by discharging another tranche to help level of work done as such far “the government is on course there’s no doubt about it. These are pilot scheme before it goes round the state.

 

 

“I think we need to encourage the contractor to do more and we would be appealing to government to see what they can do to release more fund to the contractor to be able to deliver to time.

 

 

Likewise speaking in same vein, Hon. Jude Idimogu assailed the contractor said the committee members are not happy with the progress of the projects saw at Awori College and furthermore appeal to the government to release more fund.

 

 

 

Reacting for the benefit of the contractual worker, MD/CEO of King County Project Development Limited, Mr said they have done far and wide from the part installment they got says when they get another tranche of the fud the projects must be done before it time period to them.

 

 

Also at the assessment sites is member, representing Oshodi/Isolo constituency 01, Hon. Hakeem Sokunle; staff of Projects Unit Department of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Arc. Omokore Ebaide DD (Project); QS Adefuye Adeyinka; and Engr. Adelekan Jamiu PTO (Project).
