Super League Plotters Stand Firm: We’re Not Going Against Anyone, Nothing Changes

While UEFA are set to announce on Monday the new format for the Champions League, several European football powerhouses are expected to make an announcement of their own about the new Super League by the end of next week.

The major European football governing body is aware of the project being put together by the clubs who are keen to break away from the Champions League.

Those elite European teams could officially make public the format of the new competition as well as the names of the clubs who have decided to participate in it.

Over the last months, MARCA had reported their intention to form a European Super League and UEFA has reacted to the plans by reminding the teams who are planning to join the project that they could face a ban from the competitions organised by UEFA and FIFA, something that has not changed the elite clubs’ plans.

“There is no doubt and nothing changes,” say those behind the new Super League project.

“Whoever wants to join, perfect. Whoever does not, the door is there.

“For a long time, we have been warning of everything [that could happen]. Football needs to change.

“We are not going against anyone. We are only looking to make a better competition. We are not going against the leagues.”
