US Open: Ruthless Rafa Nadal To Play South Africa’s Anderson In Final

World No.1 Rafael Nadal reached the US Open finals for the first time after 2013 with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2 demolition of Juan Martin del Potro in the semifinals today.

The Spaniard started badly with Del Potro, who beat Federer in the quarter-finals, at the top of his game. Nadal, trying to target the Argentine’s backhand, became predictable and Del Potro took the full toll and won the first set.
But that seemed to bring out the best in a fired-up Nadal, who rampaged through the second set and inflicted a ‘bagel’ on his opponent.

There was no stopping Rafa after that as he stormed through the rest of the game like a freight train gathering momentum.
There was only one outcome possible once he won the third set as the 31-year-old from Mallorca booked a date with South Africa’s Kevin Anderson in the final.

Rafael Nadal, who has won 15 Grand Slam titles, is three short of Roger Federer’s all-time record!
