Trump Will Nominate Former Campaign Adviser Stephen Moore To Federal Reserve
President Donald Trump said Friday he plans to nominate his former campaign adviser, Stephen Moore, to the Federal Reserve Board.
“It is my pleasure to announce that @ *StephenMoore*, a very respected Economist, will be nominated to serve on the Fed Board,” Trump tweeted. “I have known Steve for a long time – and have no doubt he will be an outstanding choice.”
Moore has called in December for Chairman Jerome Powell and the Fed’s leadership to be removed and argued that the central bank should “be responsive” to the president.
The former Trump campaign adviser would become the president’s fifth appointee to sit on the Fed’s seven-member board, including Powell, who has been the main target of the president’s wrath over the Fed’s campaign of interest-rate hikes, which the central bank all but abandoned this week.
