Manchester City Cruise Into Champions League Quarter-finals After Victory Over Borussia Monchengladbach

Manchester City already had a comfortable advantage over Borussia Monchengladbach, but Pep Guardiola’s side made doubly sure of their place in the quarter finals with another 2-0 win (4-0 on aggregate).

Kevin de Bruyne’s blistering left footed strike into the top corner on 12 minutes settled any nerves for the ‘home’ side, who were playing in the Puskas Arena in Budapest due to COVID restrictions.

Shortly after came the second, as Phil Foden slipped Ilkay Gundogan in on goal who slotted past the advancing Yann Sommer.

City took their foot off the gas slightly in the second period with the result and qualification already in the bag.

It’s now the eighth season in a row that City are into the last eight of the Champions League, and the 12th consecutive time for Guardiola, including his time with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
