Stuttgart Thrashed Dortmund At Home In Absence Of Haaland

Spread the love

Borussia Dortmund are currently without Erling Haaland, who is injured and recovering in Qatar, and they felt his absence in their Saturday afternoon game against Stuttgart, losing 5-1.

The high press and verticality used by Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side proved too much for Borussia Dortmund, who have fallen further behind in the Bundesliga table.

The first goal was scored from the spot by Silas Wamangituka after Mateo Klimowicz was fouled, but Giovanni Reyna responded to make it all square at the break.

In the second half, though, Stuttgart put their hosts to the sword. Wamangituka netted his second, before two goals in quick succession from Philipp Forster and Tanguy Coulibaly.

Nico Gonzalez then completed the thrashing in stoppage time as he was played in one on one against Roman Burki and as he finished coolly.

This latest defeat means that Borussia Dortmund have really struggled since Haaland went down injured, drawing 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and drawing 1-1 with Lazio in the Champions League. They did beat Zenit St. Petersburg 2-1, but that was a match of little importance.
