Real Madrid’s History Makers

Spread the love

These range from backroom figures to those making headlines on the pitch with Los Blancos winning the first LaLiga and Champions League double for 59 years.

The third Champions League triumph in four years is a level of dominance that few teams can match with the club benefitting from the work of important individuals.

Florentino Perez

The club president has characterised the era with his Galactico policy, showing it can work with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale making important contributions after arriving for incredible transfer fees. Perez has overseen a business model that many envy and has allowed Zinedine Zidane to choose from almost a whole squad of superstars.

Jose Angel Sanchez

On the corporate side of things Sanchez is incredibly important to Los Blancos when assessing the financial implications of transfers and sales. Sanchez is responsible for the club that generates one of the highest incomes in world football.

Ramon Martínez

A close advisor to Perez, Martinez has the ear of the man with power in Madrid and he helps analyse the development of players within the club and has a hand in the signings of younger players, Marco Asensio and Casemiro are two of his biggest successes.

Juni Calafat

Calafat is responsible for Los Blancos’ scouting of foreign leagues and this is key to bringing in talent and developing them with Vinicius Jr. the latest such player.

Zinedine Zidane

The Frenchman controls the technical side of the club, his work since arriving as coach has been phenomenal with an unprecedented level of success following him. He looks to avoid conflict with his players and has made micromanaging players look relatively easy, it was Zidane who helped Cristiano Ronaldo adapt to more rest and this allowed him to be at full flow in the final.

Sergio Ramos

Two summers ago Ramos was a step away from leaving Real Madrid but reconciliation with the president has facilitated his greatest period in the Spanish capital. He leads the defence by example and gives confidence and security to those around him, he has since lifted two further Champions League trophies.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo remains the club’s brightest star. His arrival signalled the start of the second Perez era and he has gone onto become Los Blancos’ greatest ever player, his numbers simply don’t lie. Yet again he performed outstandingly well in a final and was decisive, the good news for supporters is that he wants to stay at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu until he is 40.
