…To regionalise the annual event
Foremost Islamic organisation, Nasrul-L-Lahi-L- Fatih Society (NASFAT) has successfully held its 2017 edition of its annual Train-the-Trainers’ Exercise meant to teach and expose members of the Society to Islamic teachings towards deepening their religious knowledge.
The annual Islamic religion propagation (Dawah) training course, sixth in the series, which held at At-Tanzeel Schools, Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu Lagos recently, attracted over 100 participants from across NASFAT branches within and outside the country.
The four-day residential training, held between December 29, 2017 and January 1, 2018, recorded impressive participation by members from all walks of life across the 16 zones of NASFAT including its United Kingdom and United States zones. .
Structurally, the training featured five different courses on Train-the-Trainers’ Dialogue (TTD), where the participants had the opportunity of being exposed to teachings about their religion, Islam and comparative religious lectures.
The training had five classes of different strata from 500 level to the beginners of 100 level which are: Train-the-Trainers Course and Dialogue (Module 101), TTCP, Sharia Intelligence, Train-the-Trainers Course Primer and two others.
Each of the modules was handled by highly-qualified resource persons drawn from the Islamic Education Trust (IET), Dawah Institute of Nigeria (DIN), Minna and NASFAT trainers, all of whom are scholars and authorities on Islamic and Arabic courses.
Addressing participants at the closing ceremony of the training, the Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Imam Mahruf Abdulazeez Onike, said the programme has been conceived to create an out-of-home and friendly environment to infuse the Society’s members with Islamic religion knowledge.
Through this effort, the Chief Missioner said NASFAT members and entire muslim community will be in tandem with the teachings of Islam and will be prepared to propagate the religion based on sound knowledge of its teachings and tenets.
Noting that the last six editions of the annual programme have held in Lagos, Onike assured members, who attended the training course from outside Lagos that the training would soon be replicated in the North and South/South zones to ensure the event is brought closer to them and consequently reduce the transportation hassles associated with having to travel down to Lagos annually.
In their remarks, the National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Samiat Mumuni and the National Education Secretary, Dr. (Mrs.) Rahmat Adisa, thanked the participants for making it to the training despite its closeness to the Society’s Biennial General Conference, which took place in Ghana between December 21and 24, 2017.
They both promised the participants improved training package, especially in the areas of course materials availability before the training and other desiderata.
