West Brom Held Manchester United At Hawthorns
Manchester United dropped more points in their pursuit of Manchester City with a 1-1 draw to West Brom at the Hawthorns on Sunday.
The hosts took an early lead when Mbaye Diagne towered above Victor Lindelof and headed Conor Gallagher’s cross out of David de Gea’s reach.
United had to wait until the final couple of minutes of the half for their equaliser; Bruno Fernandes connecting sweetly with Luke Shaw’s cross to volley home.
Into the second half, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were awarded a penalty when Harry Maguire went down under the challenge of Semi Ajayi but, after a VAR review, the decision was reversed.
The United captain would’ve snuck in a late winner had Sam Johnstone not tipped his header on to the post.
The draw leaves United seven points behind leaders City in the Premier League table, with Pep Guardiola’s men having played one game less.
