Zlatan Ibrahimovic hasn’t had a great week, with a red card against Parma and his breaching of Italy’s coronavirus protocols now being followed by a report claiming he could be banned due to betting offences.

By part-owning betting company Bethard, he is said to have breached FIFA and UEFA’s rules.

This is according to Swedish publication Aftonbladet, who explain that players who have financial motives in betting companies are not allowed to participate in FIFA or UEFA competitions.

They reveal that, in 2018, the striker became part-owner of Bethard through a limited company called Unknown AB. They say the Bethard CEO Erik Skarp has confirmed that Ibrahimovic holds shares in the company, while he has very publicly appeared in promotional campaigns as well.

Bethard, made a profit of 301 million SEK after taxes, or around 30m euros, in 2019, the last annual accounts fully available.

Aftonbladet say that the player could face a FIFA ban of up to three years as well as a fine of almost 100,000 euros. UEFA’s rules, meanwhile, are said to be less clear.
