Fourth Stimulus Check Latest Update: A 4th & 5th Check Could Keep 12 Million Out Of Poverty
Voices for the US federal government to launch a fourth round of stimulus checks are growing as the country looks to combat the financial strain put on families by the coronavirus crisis.
The US has already distributed three rounds of stimulus checks to its citizens since the start of the pandemic, with the latest one worth up to 1,400 dollars each.
The third round of checks was approved by congress in March and now there are calls for a fourth round of checks to be given out.
Who is calling for more stimulus checks?
Seven members of the House Ways and Means Committee are the latest to sign a letter calling for more stimulus checks.
“Families and workers shouldn’t have to worry about whether they’ll have enough money to pay for essentials in the months ahead as the country continues to fight a global pandemic and recession,” the letter reads.
The letter also suggests that two more rounds of stimulus payments would be required as families continue to struggle with their finances.
“A fourth and fifth check could keep an additional 12 million out of poverty,” add members of the Ways and Means Committee.
When could a fourth stimulus check be distributed?
If congress was to address needs for a fourth round of stimulus payments, it may not be a priority right now.
There is not massive support from house speaker Nancy Pelosi, who is more focused on addressing Joe Biden’s packages for infrastructure funding.
