Manchester United secured their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after beating West Ham United 1-0 on Tuesday night, but they had to go to extra time before finding a breakthrough.
The best chance of the first half fell the way of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, as a Victor Lindelof header from a corner was tipped onto the post by Lukasz Fabianski.
Marcus Rashford had an excellent chance to score the opening goal in the second half after West Ham right-back Ryan Fredericks missed a header that left the forward completely free in the box, but Fabianski quickly came out to limit Rashford’s options.
The first goal finally came in extra time, as Rashford laid the ball off on the edge of the box and Scott McTominay fired a first-time shot through a crowd of players that left Fabianski helpless.
