Injury-plagued PSG Edge Win Over Nice Before Trip To Barcelona

Things haven’t been straightforward for Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain, and the French champions just about beat Nice 2-1 at the Parc des Princes on Saturday afternoon.

The Ligue 1 champions have been hit by a number of injuries this term, including Neymar. As well as the Brazilian, they were without Angel Di Maria, Juan Bernat, Marco Verratti, Rafinha Alcantara, Colin Dagba and Timothee Pembele, although Keylor Navas returned between the sticks.

In their pink and purple Air Jordan shirt, PSG started well on Saturday, but Nice kept them at arm’s length early on.

Julian Draxler did manage to open the scoring midway through the first half though, and the hosts looked set to go on to claim maximum points.

But Rony Lopes levelled for Nice early in the second half, before Moise Kean went on to deliver a 72nd-minute winner that secured the three points for PSG.

PSG are now temporarily top, though Lille and Lyon are still to play this weekend.

Pochettino’s side will travel to Catalonia in the coming days ahead of the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Barcelona on Tuesday night.
