Ex-presidential Candidate Lauds Aare Afe Babalola Call For Summit Of Hope
The candidate of the Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), in the 2019 presidential election, Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies congratulates and lauds Aare Afe Babalola on his decision to call for a “Summit of Hope”, at Afe Babalola University, says “he is truly an elder stateman and indeed an academia as the call for the National Conference is so timely.”
“One would have expected the moves earlier by the elders and at the academia as it’s long overdue, and thus commendable as it’s now being rightly proposed”, Prof. Davies asserts.
Barely a few days after the Presidency raised alarm about an alleged coup plot by some forces in the country to carry out undemocratic activities aimed at President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, Aare Afe Babalola, the owner of the Afe Babalola University located in Ado Ekiti has thoughtfully revealed that plans are being put in place to organize a national conference to be sponsored by him hopefully.
He aims to convene a national conference with many dignitaries from different parts of the country as an academic at an ivory tower and this is highly commendable. Adesanya-Davies says, “this is precisely what Nigeria needs at this moment, and not the ongoing bloody unprecedented moves by jihadits and bandits; nor bloody military coup plot currently suspected by the federal government, after several enduring years of Nigeria’s democracy.
The conference titled “Summit of Hope” according to Afe Babalola is organized so that a solution to the many problems that the country is currently facing would be discussed. We all know that discussion always precedes recommendations and final implementation. In fact, other such similar seminars and conferences with such theme, should be on going in most of our universities by now, Adesanya-Davies further suggests.
Babalola stated that he has already donated the sum of N50m for the conference and that it is scheduled to hold very soon in the halls of the Afe Babalola University. He also revealed that the dignitaries for the conference would include Past Presidents of the country, notable traditional rulers and other eminent Nigerians who would come together to suggest solutions to some of the issues plaguing the country.
Babalola further explained that eminent personalities like the Sultan of Sokoto, Alaafin of Oyo, Ooni of Ife, Obi of Onitsha, Catholic Bishop Matthew Kukah, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Theophilus Danjuma, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Professor Wole Soyinka among others, would be in attendance at the summit by the grace of God. May the elders live long!
Adesanya-Davies says, “Agba kii wa loja, kori omo tuntun wo” says an adage in Yoruba language, “a child’s head cannot be bent at the mothers back, as long as elders are around at the market place”. We are so proud of you Are Afe Babalola at such a time as this, when almost everyone is loosing hope and giving up on Nigeria. “E pe fun wa o!” – Long life sir. May the almighty God crown your efforts with brilliant success and bless your deliberations towards the full restructuring and regionalisation of Nigeria for peace, unity and stability.
We believe that all patriotic, peace loving, God fearing and all well wishers of Nigeria would embrace and encourage this creative and intelligence move of brilliance! She further prays, “May the Lord God almighty grant them the wisdom and, grace to perform towards functional restructured and regionalised Nigeria.“
She says, “Long live an advanced restructured and regionalised Nigeria in Jesus’ precious name, amen.”
