Democrats Fires Back At Trump’s “Treason” Statement: He Knows Nothing About US Law
Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) fired back at President Trump for saying Democrats were “treasonous” for not applauding him during his State of the Union, saying Trump “doesn’t know what ‘treason’ means.”
“He should study Article III of the United States Constitution, which he clearly hasn’t read,” Beyer tweeted Monday.
Article III of the Constitution lays out the U.S. judicial system and includes the definition for treason.
“Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort,” it reads.
The Democrat’s response came just hours after Trump called Democrats “un-American” and “selfish” for not standing and applauding when he mentioned achievements from his first year in office during his State of the Union address last week.
