#EndSARS: Compensation For Victims Stands Sanwo-Olu Out As Unique Administrator – Activist
A pro-democracy and human right organization, the Youth Advocacy Initiative, has taken a critical look at the resolve of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to compensate victims of the #EndSARS protest, and declared that gesture as a unique one from a unique personality.
Convener of the organization, Comrade Adekunle Akinde, in a statement, said the singular act has shown that Sanwo-Olu is a unique administrator with human milk of kindness running in his vein, admitting that the compensation would go a long way as soothing balm for the victims of the destruction they suffered during the ugly incident.
When the #EndSARS protest broke out last October 2021, not a few people suffered one form of injury or the other, either physical, mental, psychological or property destruction for which Governor Sanwo-Olu set up a Judicial Panel of Inquiry to look into the matter with a view to apportioning blames and compensating the wronged.
Recall that, government properties as well as several Lagos heritages were needlessly destroyed by hoodlums and street urchins that infiltrated the rank and file of the genuine protesters and thereby put the Lagos Administration under the able leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu under intense pressure of state-building.
Akinde, in the statement, thanked the Almighty God that gave the state a super performer like Sanwo-Olu who could handle critical situations with superb administrative acumen, saying, it is gratifying that the good Lagos electorate did not make a mistake in 2019 when they give the man with gentle mien their mandate to be their governor.
The group stressed the need to give the governor maximum support to scale through all the challenges of rebuilding the damaged structures in the state, reminding that, the workaholic is still combining the rebuilding of the state after the #EndSARS episode with the normal day to day arts of governance which tasking and energy-sapping.
While patting the governor on the back for weathering the storms with equanimity, the group assured him that, “our teeming members are solidly behind you and prepared to give you all the needed support to see you pull the state through to the Eldorado.”
