Edo Assembly, Sets Up 3-Man Committee To Investigate Alleged Illegal Activities Of Proscribed CDA In Eyaen

Edo State House of Assembly has set up a three man committee to investigate a case of illegal activities of the proscribed CDA in Eyaen, Uhumwonde local government area.

The development was sequel to a petition to the Speaker Rt. Hon. Amb Marcus Onobun by counsel to the petitioners Barr Matthew Edaghese and read at plenary.

In a petition addressed to the Speaker and signed by Barr. Matthew Edaghese the petitioners asked for the intervention of the House over alleged use of the proscribed CDA to harrass and arrest residents in Eyaen.
The petitioners also alleged that some members of the proscribed group enjoyed the backing of the Enogie.

The three man adhoc committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker Hon.Roland Asoro with member representing Akoko Edo constituency one(1) Hon.Prince Yekini Idaiye and Deputy Whip of the House Hon. Ephraim Aluebhosele as members.

The committee has a two week timeline to investigate the matter.

In another petition bothering on forgery and extortion, at Government Hospital Sabongida Ora the petitioners Helen Okhuamiamen and Harry Aigbevboile appealed to the House of Assembly to investigate high rate of corruption and forgery allegedly perpetuated by a medical practitioner attached to the hospital Dr Samuel Kukoyi.

The Speaker referred the petition to the House Committee on Public Petition to look into issues raised .
The Speaker, thereafter announced a working break to enable members tidy up their committee oversight activities.

Consideration of a bill for a law to provide a framework for the promotion co-ordination propagation, monitoring and regulation of investment in Edo state for the establishment of the Edo State Investment Promotion Office and for Related Matters slated for second reading was deferred.
