The First lady of Edo State Her Excellency Betsy Obaseki has commissioned a borehole and other COVID prevention facilities donated to three secondary schools in Edo State by the Victims Support Fund, a Non Government Organisation funded by retired General TY Danjuma.

The supplies and facilities  comprise of a solar powered borehole, 4 wash stations, 2000 pieces of reusable face masks, 20 litres of hand sanitizers, 120 bottles of 500ml hand wash liquid and 5 cartons of bleach for each school.

The First Lady commended the VSF, General Theophilus Danjuma and his wife, Senator Daisy for their immense support throughout the pandemic, stating the far-reaching impact of their sustainable community support projects.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Victims Support Fund Task force on Covid 19, Mrs Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, in her speech, emphasized the necessity of water and the futility of hygiene and sanitary advocacies without adequate supply of water.

In her own words; “this is just our own way of ensuring that we consolidate and compliment the efforts of the Edo State government in combating and containment of the Corona virus especially because we know that Governor Obaseki and yourself have been doing remarkable work in ensuring that we reduce the spread of corona virus in Edo state.”

The Principal of the Anglican Girls Grammar School, Mrs Veronica Egbon Esq., in her remarks said that “when these items are put into good use, the fear of Covid 19 will become a thing of the past in AGGS”.

The Head Student of the School, Miss Tina Imatitikua expressed gratitude for the gesture of the VSF, stating that academic work will no longer be interrupted by having to fetch water outside the school premises.

Dr. Mrs Nosa Aladeselu, an old student of AGGS, in her remarks noted that the donation to the school is a timely one particularly as the school  celebrates her 60th anniversary.

Earlier Her Excellency Betsy Obaseki praised the unique ingenuity and creativity of the students of University Of Benin, expressed in the hand-wash stations as incomparable to what she had seen since the intrusion of the Corona virus.
