Canada Reopens Borders To Vaccinated US Citizens

Canada will lift travel restrictions for fully vaccinated US citizens and permanent residents from Monday.

The decision means American citizens and permanent residents who are coming from the US and have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to arrival will be allowed to enter Canada for non-essential travel, according to a statement by Canada’s Public Health Agency.

They will, however, still need to test negative for COVID-19 within three days of their arrival and also need to submit details on an app developed by the Canadian government.

If the “domestic epidemiologic situation remains favourable,” Canada also plans to open its borders to all travellers fully vaccinated with a jab approved by the Canadian government from Sept. 7.

They must have been vaccinated at least 14 days prior to their arrival and will also need to meet other specific entry requirements, the agency said.

Travellers from the US or any other country who are not fully vaccinated will not be permitted to enter Canada, it added.
