The Upcoming National Sports Festival tagged ”Edo2020” is a World Class Event that promises to be Epoch Making in nature as Sporting Fans all round the globe would happily converge in the Heartbeat of Nigeria to celebrate this Global Bliss of Sporting Competition in Edo State.
According to the Minister of Sports, Mr Sunday Dare Over Eight Thousand Sporting Fans (8,000) would participate in the forthcoming Edo2020 National Sports Festival after undergoing the compulsory COVID-19 Test and Astrazeneca Vaccination. After which they should be certified fit enough to participate in the event.
Before Now, Over Eighteen Thousand Athletes were supposed to partake in the Edo2020 National Sports Festival but the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic has made the Edo State Government to rethink and reduce the number of athletes in order to promote the safety of lives and property of both the athletes and sporting fans that that would be in Benin City, the Capital of Edo State.
This decision is in line with the World Health Organization’s Global Ethics for Standard Medical Practice which makes the Edo State Government One Hundred Ready to host the Tournament.
Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki has also stated the need for the Nigerian Sports Athletes to use the Edo2020 National Sports Festival as a ”Litmus Test” in preparing ahead of the Olympics set to hold in Tokyo, Japan in June/July this year.
He also stated the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari would officially declare the forthcoming Edo2020 National Sports Festival on the 6th of April, 2021 and as such, enjoined all Edolites come expect the best of Sporting Fiesta in Edo State.
There is no gainsaying the fact that the Edo2020 National Sports Festival would definitely add value to all Sectors of Her Economy, most especially in the Socio-Economic, through a very high Internally Generated Revenue Index.
It is not this note that I urge all Sporting Fans across Nigeria to get set for the biggest Sporting Tournament that would blow their minds from start to finish.
