Craig Dawson’s Own Goal Gives Manchester United Win Over West Ham

Manchester United returned to second place in the Premier League with a 1-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday night.

Without the injured Anthony Martial, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer named Mason Greenwood to lead United’s line against the Hammers.

The England international came close to opening the scoring in the first half when his shot was tipped on to the post by Lukasz Fabianski.

The only goal of the match came in the second half, when Craig Dawson headed Bruno Fernandes’ corner into his own net.

As West Ham searched for an equalising goal, the hosts almost doubled their advantage on a counter attack, Greenwood again unfortunate to see his strike come back off the post.

Nevertheless, United held on for the victory, leapfrogging Leicester in the table after the Foxes’ earlier win over Sheffield United.

Solskjaer’s side remain 14 points behind leaders Manchester City, despite prevailing in the derby at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
