Robert Lewandowski was handed the 2020/21 European Golden Boot award during an event in which he offered his opinion about Karim Benzema, whom he hailed for his contribution in Real Madrid’s style of play.

The Bayern Munich striker received the prize after netting an impressive 41 goals in the Bundesliga last season, as he led his team all the way to the title.

“I admire Karim not only because of the goals he scores but [because of] how he makes his team play,” Lewandowski answered to a question from MARCA.

“His work for the team is what I like the most about him. He is a great player.”

The Poland international also revealed that he has met with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez twice in the past, but he didn’t disclose what the two men discussed.

“Yes, it is true that I saw Florentino Perez on a couple of occasions,” added Lewandowski.

“One of them was after a game we played against them. But I can’t say what was said in that conversation.”

Asked if he would be interested in trying to play in another league, Lewandowski stressed that he doesn’t feel that he needs to move abroad soon.

“Right now, it is not something that I have in mind, since I am focused 100 percent on Bayern,” noted Lewandowski.

“There is always speculation, but I already face clubs from other countries in the Champions League. I do not need to try more leagues.”
