Atletico Madrid Beat Athletic Club 2-1

Luis Suarez didn’t have his best game against Athletic Club on Wednesday, but the Uruguayan converted a second-half penalty that won Atletico Madrid the game.

He didn’t have much of a sniff in front of Unai Simon’s goal, but early in the second half he was fouled by Unai Nunez for a spot kick that he took himself. Of course, Suarez stepped up and scored.

The goal was his 18th in LaLiga Santander this season, taking him to within one of Lionel Messi’s 19 – a tally that has the Argentine leading the Pichichi race.

After four LaLiga Santander games without a goal, Suarez was back on target against Real Madrid and has now followed that up with another game in which he has scored.
