Co-Convener, Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), Comrade Titi Akosa, has confirmed the reports that, a massive rally to appreciate the good work of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos is in the pipeline saying, the rally is to show the governor that the people of the state are appreciative of his numerous good gestures towards them.

The woman activist in a chat with our correspondent Wednesday in Lagos said the rally is being planned by the CDG along with its other 70 affiliates to thank the governor for the good work he has been doing in office since 2019 that he was given the mandate to be their governor, adding that, other pro-democracy groups and human rights organizations contacted have agreed to be part of the rally.

“Against this backdrop, the state would witness a massive rally that would rock the state to the bottom because of the number of the groups that would be involved. The stage is being prepared to ensure adequate security of lives and properties because the appropriate security agencies would be involved. We are aware of the ill-fated EndSARS protest hijacked by the hoodlums. Necessary precautions are therefore being taken to forestall the repeat of that sad event,” Akosa informed.

While reminding that, rallies and peaceful protests are normal phenomenal in democracy, the woman activist is also of the conviction that, “If we can protest against bad policies and governance, it would not be out of place to rally for good governance and in support of superlative performers like Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.”

Besides, according to her, Sanwo-Olu’s performance has earned him several accolades and awards so much that, “all members of the CDG, a group that consists of over 70 other human right organizations have given him another pass mark in their latest edition of the periodic Integrity Test,” adding that, “Sanwo-Olu has been passing the Test always which makes the coming rally necessary.”

Akosa said the governor’s scorecard in just a little over two years in office would be reeled out on the day of the rally, the venue of which she kept to her chest now, assuring that, correct information about his performance across all sectors of the economy like transportation, health, education, security, civil service and the environment among others.

“It is on record that his performance in the war against the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic earned accolades and commendations from two international bodies, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations (UN),” saying, “somebody like that needs encouragement and deserves appreciation for job well done.”
