Manchester Beat Everton In FA Cup

Manchester City’s quest for a quadruple remains on track after a 2-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park in the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

Carlo Ancelotti was forced to call upon third-choice goalkeeper, Joao Virginia, for the tie as Jordan Pickford and Robin Olsen were both absent.

The 21-year-old made a fine save to deny Aymeric Laporta an opening goal in the 84th minute, only for Ilkay Gundogan to head in the rebound.

Pep Guardiola’s side doubled their lead minutes later, with substitute Kevin de Bruyne smashing the ball past Virginia after being played clear.

City’s late efforts in this match mean they remain in all competitions heading into the final two months of the season – they’re 14 points clear at the top of the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup final against Tottenham, in the Champions League quarter-finals against Dortmund and now into the FA Cup last four.
