Spread the love

At open fields, events halls or arenas, individuals turn out in large numbers for events to be performed by Femi Stephen Band.

Lovers of African traditional folk songs gathered to listen to the blend of pure Yoruba traditional music blended with gospel tunes. This was the experience at the Festival of Mercy organized by the Truth House in Lagos on the 13th February, 2016.

Femi Stephen Band is fast becoming a household name in churches and events in the last few years in Nigeria and some neighboring West African Countries where the Yoruba Language is spoken.

The band’s appearance niche is in their classical African prints, ‘Ankara’, which has gained prominence among young Africans of late.

The percussion performance of the band is outstanding and can best be described as an opera in an African setting.

The band has ten different African traditional percussion instruments played by young men most of whom inherited such skills from their parents. The Yoruba speaking people of Western Africa are in Nigeria, Republic of Benin and Togo.

Femi Stephen, the young leader of the band who also doubles as the lead vocalist, thrilled the audience with Yoruba folklore, accompanied by the band members on percussions.

The Festival of Mercy is a quarterly gospel music event put together by The Truth House in Lagos, Nigeria.
