“I am going to take a few weeks off now with my family to relax before making a decision (on my future),” says Terry.
“But I want to carry on playing, whether it be for one or two more years.
“And that is the reason I decided to leave the club as I did not want to stand in the way of all the young players.”
And the departing Chelsea captain has reserved his final thank you for Chelsea coach Antonio Conte, with Terry leading the Stamford Bridge faithful in a rousing rendition of “Antonio, Antonio, Antonio, Antonio!”
Meanwhile, John Terry has also thanked Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who he has called “the best owner in the world”.
“Roman cares about every aspect of the club has been different class from the first day he arrived.”
John Terry has just described today as being “one of the most difficult days of my life” as the Chelsea captain says his goodbyes to the club and its fans, who he called “the best supporters in the world.”
“Thank you will never be enough, but I will be coming back here one day and I love you all from the bottom of my half,” said Terry.
