Andre Silva Upstaging Jovic At Eintracht Frankfurt

Luka Jovic was the big name addition to Eintracht Frankfurt’s squad during the January transfer window, but he’s being shown up by Andre Silva at the moment.

The former Sevilla striker scored his 18th Bundesliga goal of the season during Frankfurt’s 2-0 win over Cologne on Sunday.

The Portuguese international now has as many league goals as any other player in Europe in 2021 with nine – the same as Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan.

Across the campaign, only Robert Lewandowski’s 24 goals can better Silva’s total of 18 in the German top flight. Erling Haaland only has 15 goals so far this season.

Having spent the first 70 minutes on the bench against Cologne, Jovic was on the pitch for the hosts’ second goal.

Evan N’Dicka converted Filip Kostic’s corner to move Frankfurt up to third in the Bundesliga table.
