Christian Eriksen’s recovery is continuing and the Dane has sent yet more messages of reassurance from hospital.

The Inter star, 29, suffered a scare during Denmark’s European Championship match against Finland, suddenly collapsing on the pitch and needing to be resuscitated by the medical staff in place.

“Thank you everyone,” Eriksen said in a message via Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I don’t give up. I feel better now, but I want to understand exactly what happened to me.

“I want to thank everyone for what they’ve done. Thanks to the Inter family who have been very close to me, I’ve been moved by it.”

Eriksen required 15 minutes of assistance from the emergency services on the pitch, with his teammates forming a wall around him to prevent cameras and those around in the stands from being able to see the unsettling images.

“We were called onto the field when Christian collapsed,” the doctor, Morten Boesen, explained in a press conference. “He was lying on his side when we approached him. At first, there was respiration and pulse, but that suddenly changed.

“As everyone saw, he received CPR. We quickly got help from the stadium doctor and we got Christian back.

“He spoke to me before he was taken to the hospital.”
